The Luxury Collection Signs Hotel in Napa Valley

NAPA, CA—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. plans to debut The Luxury Collection brand here with the signing of Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Napa Valley. The hotel will open in fall 2015 upon completion of a multi-million renovation that will transform the former Grandview Hotel & Spa.

Owned and developed by Spring Mountain Hotel, LLC, a joint venture between Presidio Companies and Las Alcobas Hotel Group, the hotel will feature 57 guestrooms and suites, a signature restaurant, a 3,500-sq.-ft. spa, an outdoor pool, meeting facilities and all of the brand’s signature amenities and services. Located in the historic city of St. Helena, this hotel marks the fourth Luxury Collection hotel in California.

Yabu Pushelberg will oversee the design of Las Alcobas. Spanning 3.4 acres, the hotel consists of the historic Acacia House, which was built as a private residence in 1907 and converted into a hotel in 1911, as well as several multi-unit cottages added in the early 1940s.

Last year, the St. Helena City Council approved the historic preservation of the property as a 57-room resort. The adaptive re-use project will reconfigure existing structures, preserve the Georgian and Victorian architectural flourishes, and infuse the property with modern touches. The redesigned Acacia House will house the hotel’s lobby, restaurant, spa, fitness center, 3,500 sq. ft. of meeting space including a grand ballroom, and seven of the guestrooms, while the remaining guestrooms will be spread across the property’s cottages.

“We are delighted to reposition and reopen this hotel as part of Starwood’s renowned Luxury Collection brand, which will give us a strong asset in this high barrier to enter market,” said Guneet Bajwa, managing principal, Presidio Companies.

Located at 1915 Main St., Las Alcobas is next door to the Beringer Wine Estate and offers views of the vineyard. Walking distance to the Culinary Institute of America and the restaurants, art galleries and boutiques of downtown St. Helena, the hotel is a short drive to several golf courses and numerous wineries.
