Radisson Blu Teams with ‘Project Runway’ Designer on Display

PHILADELPHIA—Radisson Blu Warwick Hotel, Philadelphia is celebrating the holiday season by partnering with Project Runway Season 12 winner and Philadelphia native Dom Streater, who will create a one-of-a-kind holiday display in its grand lobby.

Dubbed “Franklin’s Fireplace,” the project mimics the hotel’s design approach of blending historical and modern characteristics by incorporating upcycled materials with Streater’s original fabric prints to create a display with historical significance, according to the hotel.

“I was really inspired by the hotel’s lobby and how they were able to create a modern space while still highlighting some of the beloved building’s original features,” stated Streater. “Philadelphia is a city of such historical significance and, as a proud native, I wanted to emphasize that in the design.”

The design concept will include large and small trees created with used books, a subtle nod to the hotel’s literary theme currently seen on the lobby’s two word walls. Streater’s signature prints will be showcased on pillows designed for use on the two existing Missoni couches and on the design’s centerpiece, a life-size Benjamin Franklin seated near the fireplace.

“Art plays a major role in Radisson Blu’s brand ethos,” stated General Manager Jean-Marc Jalbert. “This installation allows us to get the local community and hotel guests into the holiday spirit while supporting the Philadelphia arts scene.”

The official unveiling of “Franklin’s Fireplace” will immediately follow the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 1, and will include holiday stories told at the lobby’s fireplace, snacks and refreshments. Streater also will be present.

Prior to the official unveiling, guests and locals are invited to visit the Radisson Blu booth at the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony to enjoy hot beverages and an interactive photo booth, where they can post photos directly to social media channels.
