DUBAI—Morah, a 149-seat restaurant located on the 71st and 72nd floors of the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, has opened.
Originally launched as the Byblos in Toronto and Miami, Morah brings flavors of the eastern and coastal Mediterranean in a two-story space. The owners of Morah and Weslodge, located on the 68th floor of the hotel, enlisted Toronto-based interior design firm Navigate Design with creating a progressive design under a refresh of the brand and name.
The design team set out to monopolize the 270-degree unblocked view of the city’s skyline, but faced some challenges. The architecture resembles a Sheriff star with hard converging angles at all corners, according to the firm. To balance the architecture, Navigate Design softened the space to work with Morah’s feminine brand in details, large and small. Other design elements include a spiral staircase, hand-carved bar, and a custom art and graphics program.
