JACKSON, MS—Celia Barrett, ASID, IIDA, principal interior designer for Celia Barrett Design, has won top interior design awards this year. The first is a national award given by Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and shared with her clients, Jackie’s International of Canton, MS, for the renovation of the Holiday Inn Express in New Albany, MS.
Barrett and her team gave the hotel a cozy comfortable feeling to reflect the home of William Faulkner, Mississippi’s famed novelist. “When I researched New Albany and found that William Faulkner was born there, it gave us a fabulous direction to take the lobby. We added a fireplace with wing back chairs, lots of bookcases and used Faulkner quotes from his novels as artwork,” said Barrett.
Also for Jackie’s International, Barrett won the IIDA Regional Recognition Award for the design of the Hampton Inn and Suites in Wiggins, MS. This same hotel won the ASID. Silver Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design.
Celia Barrett is the principal and owner of Celia Barrett Design, LLC, a boutique interior design firm located in the Fondren Arts District, here, with satellite offices in New York City and McComb, MS.
Celia has been a senior designer for several NYC architectural firms and has 30 years of experience in commercial and residential design.
