The Godfrey Hotel Chicago to Open in February

CHICAGO—The Godfrey Hotel Chicago, a 16-story, 221 guestroom, upper-upscale lifestyle hotel, will open here in February.

Located in the River North neighborhood, the building features a Cubist-influenced, industrial façade, a marble-clad, elliptical lobby and a 15,000-sq.-ft. indoor/outdoor lounge and meeting space on the fourth floor, which offers unobstructed views due to the design of the hotel’s retractable roof. I|O Urban Roofscape features design elements such as the two-level fire pit that serves as a beacon to passerbys below.

Chicago-based Valerio Dewalt Train was tapped for the architecture of the building. Architect David Jennerjahn stated, “We conceived of the hotel’s design as a taut wrapping of Cubist forms that shift inward and outward to reveal the building’s expressive structural frame. Both daring and honest—a real Chicago building.”

The hotel’s interiors were designed by Gettys Design Group Chicago. The white lobby features recessed ceiling, spherical, central lighting fixture, alcove and structural seating and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The 221 guestrooms include 182 guestrooms, 12 executive king rooms and 27 one-bedroom Godfrey Suites—all stylized with calming tones and textiles juxtaposed with color and contemporary built-in furnishings. Additional room features include a 46-in. HD LED television, complimentary WiFi, L’OCCITANE bath products, a work station, wet bar and iHome docking station. In addition to RFID key cards, each guestroom also utilizes an InnCom system to monitor room temperatures, electricity and lighting. Guests can also control their televisions via their smartphones and access flight information from the television as well.

Located in the lobby and 4th floor lounge area, guests will be able to utilize custom-designed digital touchscreen concierge boards to retrieve information such as weather, shopping, flights and events around town. This information can be delivered right to the guest’s smartphone to take the digital concierge board on-the-go for explorations around Chicago. The entire property also will offer complimentary high-speed WiFi in all guestrooms and public spaces.

Amenities at the hotel include a full-service restaurant, 24-hour fitness center and spa treatments in either of the two private treatments rooms at Spa∙Boutique.
