WASHINGTON, DC—The Rooftop at The Embassy Row Hotel, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is set to open on Tuesday, July 1, following a three-month, $500,000 renovation.
The 4,130-sq.ft., open-air roof terrace features a 450-sq.-ft. swimming pool and outdoor lounge area with resort cabanas and lounge seating. It is located nine stories up and has been refurbished. It features teak plush seating, modern landscape architecture and a new F&B menu.
Carlo de Leon, F&B director, was tapped by the hotel to create a culinary program that sources handpicked local ingredients with a focus on sustainability and regional flavors. The menu includes local whitefish tacos, local sausages, crab cake sandwich, ramen burger, edamame cilantro humus, dinosaur kale salad and a signature soft-grilled pretzel with grained mustard. Beverage fare includes specialty cocktails such as the Rooftop Escape, DC Sidecar and Spring Fizz. The wine list features selections from CA-based ONEHOPE Wine, and proceeds of each purchase go toward various charitable causes.
The Rooftop terrace and pool, designed by HVS Design and Jonathan Nehmer & Associates, is the first phase completion of a $15-million renovation of The Embassy Row Hotel. It features a casual, urban atmosphere. According to the company, the design aesthetic is relaxed and playful, with pops of peacock blue and orange accents throughout. The space features an emerald faux-grass wall with uplighting to create a floating effect that offsets a striped pool deck in two shades of medium gray. The area also has festival lighting and an overarching canopy covering a lounge section for an upscale vibe.
