After recently unveiling its Color Mix Forecast for the year, Sherwin-Williams has revealed its choice for color of the year: Urbane Bronze.
“This year is causing us to pause and be mindful of how we’re living, so we gravitated towards Urbane Bronze for its ability to create a sense of calm while making us feel safe and secure,” said Sue Wadden. director of color marketing, Sherwin-Williams. “Design is focused on how to create relaxing sanctuaries, whether that’s in a house or in a hotel room when people are away from the comfort of their own home.”
As a pure, minimalistic expression of nature, Urbane Bronze effortlessly conveys a feeling of warmth and welcome. A refreshing alternative and complement to gray, the hue combines beautifully with pale woods, rich leathers, metals and understated natural stone tones.
Wadden said that Urbane Bronze works well in hospitality design. “Urbane Bronze is a rich, beautiful color, but it’s also quite versatile and can be used in a variety of interior and exterior spaces, including hotels,” she said. “It looks great as an accent wall in a lobby or hotel room or on the restaurant bar. To balance it out, I recommend pairing it with contrasting shades of beige, parchment and mushroom, such as Modern Gray SW 7632 or Messenger Bag SW 7740. Wood species like ash help play up the rich hue while materials like woven wool rugs and copper complement it beautifully.”
