PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MEXICO—Viceroy Hotels & Resorts’ two Mexico properties—Viceroy Riviera Maya and Viceroy Zihuatanejo—have launched major renovations to increase amenities, services and facilities.
Viceroy Zihuatanejo will have 11 beachfront swim-up suites centered around a new adults-only swimming pool. Two existing two-bedroom garden suites will be completely remodeled and the current general manager suite will be converted into two new deluxe rooms, while a new and more luxurious general manager suite will be constructed.
To expedite the renovation, the resort will close August 1 and have a soft re-opening on Oct. 16. New accommodations are expected to be ready for occupancy on or about Nov. 1. With these changes, Viceroy Zihuatanejo will emerge with 58 updated rooms and suites.
Additionally, new culinary and spa programs have been added and a renovation of the resort’s deluxe rooms was recently completed.
Viceroy Riviera Maya will be a larger pier for private dinners, yoga classes, ceremonies and other small events. The pier will also have four areas outfitted with day beds and hammocks.
Palapas are a signature Mexican architectural statement and the property will have a new one able to accommodate as many as 100 to 120 guests. F&B will also receive updates to menus at oceanfront Coral Grill and the fine dining restaurant La Marea.
Elsewhere, spa and fitness facilities will be reimagined and upgraded.
