ReardonSmith Establishes New Landscape Design Discipline

LONDON—ReardonSmith Architects has formed a dedicated landscape design team under the leadership of Ed Freeman. He joins ReardonSmith as director of landscape with over 14 years experience behind him as a landscape architect and urban designer.

“Increasingly in our resort master planning work, we were being asked by clients to define the principles of the landscape design as part of our initial concept, so it seemed sensible to us to bring a talented and experienced individual into the company so that we could enhance and expand our client service,” stated Patrick Reardon, executive chairman of ReardonSmith.

Most recently, Freeman worked with Capita Lovejoy on a portfolio of master planning and regeneration schemes as well as luxury hotel and resort projects, both in the U.K, and overseas. He collaborated with ReardonSmith on the early phases of Porto Montenegro, the new marina destination in Montenegro and, most recently, on The Regent Porto Montenegro Hotel & Residences, scheduled to open in summer next year.

“We think this new proposition at ReardonSmith will prove very compelling for clients. They will benefit from a team with both unparalleled hotel architecture experience and landscape design expertise, coming together in a seamless process to completely integrate building and landscape design from the very earliest conceptual stage,” Freeman said in a statement.
