Wilson Associates has unveiled the official design of the Niccolo Hotel Changsha. Located within Hunan’s premier Furong District tower, Changsha IFS Tower One, the Niccolo Changsha is the fourth luxury property of its kind from Hong Kong-based hospitality management company Wharf Hotels.
Designed by Wilson Associates’ Dallas studio, the new urban travel destination has 241 contemporary-chic guestrooms, including 19 spacious suites; three stylish, yet distinct food and beverage venues; and a series of sophisticated conference and meeting spaces.
“We drew inspiration from the hotel’s vibrant locale,” said James Carry, principal and managing director at Wilson Associates’ Dallas studio. “This 241-room, high-rise hotel is located in the energetic district of Hunan, China. Our team of designers sought to create an upscale, yet worldly, epicenter for luxury and relaxation—all while staying true to the Niccolo brand’s roots.”
Overlooking the picturesque Xiang river, the hotel welcomes discerning, global travelers and local Changsha residents in a polished, yet artful reception area.
“We wanted to emphasize a feeling of ‘less is more’ in the design. We drew inspiration from Hunan’s retail fashion display casings and adopted a hyper-contemporary scheme to captivate visitors from their first encounter,” he said. “In turn, we brought together a palette of creams and warm neutrals, balanced by contrasting high-gloss lacquered walls to the interiors. Our team created an architectural canvas that allows richly hued accents such as blown glass sculptures and sparkling pendants to shine.”
He added, “We wanted to invite guests into a chic-contemporary experience. From the moment guests enter this new urban travel destination, they are transported via chic elevator cabs to the heart of the hotel—a 93rd-floor sky lobby. Once the elevator doors open, visitors will discover dark textures, stunning artwork and sweeping views of the city.”
Elevator doors open to dark textures, distinctive artwork and views of the city, encouraging visitors to discover the food, beverage and social destinations on the top floor of the tower. The glittering BAR 93 exudes ambiance, offering evening entertainment and craft cocktails in a trendy, yet refined setting. Recalling the spirit of the hotel’s metropolitan locale, Niccolo Kitchen’s sleek, high-energy design invites family, friends and business associates to gather for a medley of signature Asian and Western dishes prepared in an open kitchen. Stylish wood slatting denotes a back room of Niccolo Kitchen’s dining space, which serves as an exclusive Tea Lounge in the afternoon.
“Downstairs, exquisitely appointed guestrooms and suites occupy floors 86 to 92. Spacious and elegant, each accommodation offers unparalleled luxury—featuring an understated neutral palette, soft textiles and floor-to-ceiling windows that capitalize on the Niccolo’s exquisite surroundings,” he said. “Spa-like bathrooms, adorned in Italian marble and polished fixtures, were designed to relax and revitalize with an abundant access to natural light.”
