NEW YORK—The Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association’s (BLLA) 2nd annual Boutique Hotel Investment Conference, opening here today at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), is sold out.
BLLA brings together major players of boutique hotels, including a debate that pits Starwood against its boutique/lifestyle brands: W, Luxury Collection, Element and Aloft. Independent brand speakers will tout the benefits they experience operating on their own as opposed to the big chains in this discussion.
The conference, organized and powered by BLLA, was created to focus on the capital investment and financing side of the boutique lifestyle hotel sector. The conference features a keynote from Horst Schulze, former president of the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company and current CEO of Capella Hotels. Additionally, Ian Schrager, CEO of the Ian Schrager Company, will be interviewed by Hotel Business and Hotel Business Design Editor Christina Trauthwein. Eric Danziger, the former CEO of Wyndham Hotel Company who was recently named CEO of Hampshire Hotels, will also be interviewed on stage.
The conference, recognized for its intimacy, is a micro-targeted version of other hotel investment conferences. It allows attendees to get up close to industry executives. The conference is small enough to maximize on networking opportunities and its format is easy to navigate.
The conference offers movie-style seating with a large-screen viewing of audio/visual presentations and will conclude with a networking cocktail reception. Attendees can connect via the BLLA Conference App, and review videos of the panel discussions following the conference with the distribution of a password and link.
