ADAIRSVILLE, GA—Barnsley Resort has set plans in motion for a new 54-room inn and conference center with more than 19,000 sq. ft. of additional indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
Construction is slated to begin immediately with an anticipated opening date of fall 2017. Upon completion, the resort will have a total of 150 guestrooms and suites as well as 15,500 sq. ft. of indoor meeting space. This project will create a minimum of 100 new jobs at the luxury resort in Bartow County, according to the company.
The resort’s existing accommodations, amenities, activities and restaurants will remain available throughout the expansion process. The site for the expansion is isolated to a portion of the resort’s perimeter.
Offering an additional 54 guestrooms and suites, the three-story Inn at Barnsley Resort will complement the resort’s relaxed, English-inspired village and cottage-style accommodations. Adjacent to the guest reception, the Living Room will be a gathering area outfitted with residential-style furnishings arranged in several groupings to facilitate conversation. Throughout, stained and handscraped hardwood floors, exposed beams and scattered area rugs will evoke the feeling of being an invited guest at a fine country estate, according to the company. A grand staircase and fireplace will be focal points of this space. The inn will also feature one boutique retail option.
The architect and design teams looked to the works of British architect Edwin Lutyens, known for significant English country homes from the turn of the 20th century. Inspired by this style, the inn will have the appearance of an estate that has been added to over time with a blend of detailed brick and clapboard exteriors along with dormer windows, occasional terraces and balconies to create variety of texture and scale.
The Inn’s 54 guestrooms and suites range from 378 to 528 sq. ft. with a mix of king and double queen beds. On the third floor, additional features include dormer windows, sloped ceilings and window seats. Three unique suites range from 813 sq. ft. to the 1,650-sq.-ft. Presidential Suite complete with an expansive master suite, living room, dining room, butler-pantry and spacious terrace.
With more than 10,500 sq. ft. of indoor space and 8,350 sq. ft. available outdoors, the Georgian Hall Conference Center will host corporate meetings, weddings and other special events. The addition of Georgian Hall will bring the resort’s total meeting indoor space to 15,500 sq. ft., all enhanced by state-of-the-art audio-visual technology.
The 5,000-sq.-ft. Savannah Ballroom will host 240 to 500 guests for meetings or social gatherings. The Augusta Room will offer views of the meadow, while the Oglethorpe Room will feature a barrel-vaulted ceiling, brick detailing and terraced floors. Additional indoor meeting and event space will include the 1,440-sq.-ft. divisible Dalton Room.
